अर्जुनविषादयोग
निमित्तानि च पश्यामि विपरीतानि केशव |
न च श्रेयोऽनुपश्यामि हत्वा स्वजनमाहवे ||१-३१|
Nimittaani cha pashyaami vipareetani keshava|
Na cha srheyonupashyaami hatvaa sva-janamaahave||
Keshava, I forsee the causes of extreme evils
Killing our own people in the war does not bring any glory
न काङ्क्षे विजयं कृष्ण न च राज्यं सुखानि च |
किं नो राज्येन गोविन्द किं भोगैर्जीवितेन वा ||१-३२||
Na kankshe vijayam krishna na cha raajyam sukhani cha|
Kim no raajyena govinda kim bhogair jivitena vaa ||
Krishna, I don't expect victory, kingdom or happiness
Hey Govinda, what do I gain by those kingdom and happiness?
येषामर्थे काङ्क्षितं नो राज्यं भोगाः सुखानि च |
त इमेऽवस्थिता युद्धे प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा धनानि च ||१-३३||
Yeshaamarthe Kankshitham no raajyam bhogaaha sukhaani cha|
Ta imevasthitaa yuddhe pranaamstayaktavaa dhanaani cha||
For whose satisfaction, we wish kingdom, joy and happiness
they themselves have given up the desire for money and life and ready to fight against us
आचार्याः पितरः पुत्रास्तथैव च पितामहाः|
मातुलाः श्वशुराः पौत्राः श्यालाः सम्बन्धिनस्तथा ||१-३४||
Aachaaryaah pitarah puthraaha stathaiva cha pithaamahaah|
Maatulaah shvashuraah pautraah shyaalaah sambandhinastathaa||
Gurus, Fathers, Sons, Grand Fathers
Maternal Uncles, Father-in-laws, Grand sons, brothers-in-law and relatives are all present here
एतान्न हन्तुमिच्छामि घ्नतोऽपि मधुसूदन |
अपि त्रैलोक्यराज्यस्य हेतोः किं नु महीकृते ||१-३५||
Etanna hanthu michaami ghnathopi madhusudana|
Api thrailokyaraajyasya haetho kim nu mahikruthe||
Hey Madhu sudana, even if these people want to kill me, I have no desire to kill them
Not even if I can become the master of three worlds. Would I kill them just for the sake of earth ?
