अर्जुनविषादयोगः

Verse 41 - 47

अर्जुनविषादयोगः
अधर्माभिभवात्कृष्ण प्रदुष्यन्ति कुलस्त्रियः |
स्त्रीषु दुष्टासु वार्ष्णेय जायते वर्णसङ्करः ||१-४१||


Adharmaabhibhavaath krishna pradushyanthi kulasriyah|
Streeshu dushtaasu vaashnerya jaayathe varnasankarah||
 
When adharma becomes prominent, the family women becomes polluted
With the destruction of womanhood, unwanted progeny is generated

सङ्करो नरकायैव कुलघ्नानां कुलस्य च |
पतन्ति पितरो ह्येषां लुप्तपिण्डोदकक्रियाः ||१-४२||


Sankaro narakaa yaiva kula ghnanaam kulasya cha|
Patanthi pitaro hyeshaam luptha pindodaka kriyaah||

 
With the increase in unwanted population, a hellish situation is created for both the family and family destructors
With this fall down, the holy practice of offering "pinda" to the family elders will come to a stop

दोषैरेतैः कुलघ्नानां वर्णसङ्करकारकैः |
उत्साद्यन्ते जातिधर्माः कुलधर्माश्च शाश्वताः ||१-४३||

Doshai rethaih kulaa ghnaanaam varna sankara kaarakaih|
Uthsaadyanthe jaati dharmaah kuladharmaashcha shaashvataah||


Due to the evil deeds of the destroyers of dynasty, the religious dharma and 
family dharma are devastated 
 

उत्सन्नकुलधर्माणां मनुष्याणां जनार्दन |
नरके नियतं वासो भवतीत्यनुशुश्रुम ||१-४४||


Uthsannakuladharmaanaam manushyaanaam janaardana|
Narake niyatam vaaso bhavatityanushushruma||
 
O Janardhana, I have heard that those who destroy family traditions
always reside in hell

अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता वयम् |
यद्राज्यसुखलोभेन हन्तुं स्वजनमुद्यताः ||१-४५||

Aho bata mahatpaapam kartum vyavasitaa vayam|
yadraajyasukhalobhena hantum swajanamudyataah||
 
Alas, how strange is that we have decided to kill our family
with the greed and desire to enjoy the royal kingdom and wealth

यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः |
धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे क्षेमतरं भवेत् ||१-४६||


Yadi maamaprathikaaram ashasthram shastrapaanayah|
Dhaartaraashtraa rane hanyuh tanme kshemataram bhaveth||
 
Being unarmed and unresisting, even if the sons of dhrita raastra
kill me, I would consider this one as better rather fighting them
सञ्जय उवाच |
एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्ख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत् |
विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः ||१-४७||


Sanjaya uvaacha|
Evamukthvaarjunah sankhyeh rathopastha upaavishat |
Visrujya sasharam chaapam shoka samvigna maanasah||

 
Thus speaking the above words, Arjuna kept aside his bow and arrows
and sat down on the chariot with a mindset of total grief


ॐ तत्सदिति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु
ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे
अर्जुनविषादयोगो नाम प्रथमोऽध्यायः ||१||

Om tatsaditi shrimad bhagavadgithaasu upanishatsu
Brahma vidyaayaam yogashaastre shri krishnaarjuna samvaade
Arjuna vishaada yogo naama prathamo dhyaayah||1||
 
Om, till now the upanishad, brahma vidya, yoga shastra of krishna and
Arjuna's discussion considered as "Arjuna Vishaada Yoga" the first chapter is completed
